GOT THE BUILDERS IN?

Get the right type of cover

If you don’t tell your insurer that your home is undergoing renovation, you may find that your policy is invalid in the event of a claim. This applies whether or not you continue to live in your home while the work is being done.

This is because the risk of something unexpected happening to your home and its contents increases considerably when you’ve ‘got the builders in’.

Here at Homeprotect we’re happy to insure homes that are undergoing renovation. All you need to do is let us know the value of the contract. If it’s a substantial project you may then need to pay an extra, one-off fee.

Homeprotect renovation insurance then provides cover for the rest of your home, where the renovation works aren’t taking place.

If your home renovations are valued at £20,000 or above, you will need to let us know, so we can adjust your home insurance policy accordingly. If you don’t you risk invalidating your policy if you attempt to make a claim.

No. Contractors are responsible for their own insurance. Our policy does not cover injury to or caused by contractors.

Homeprotect renovation insurance is designed to protect the rest of your property while you are undergoing valuable renovation projects. The projects themselves will be covered by your contractor’s liability insurance.

Yes. If your renovation is valued over £20,000, you must notify us before work begins. If you don’t, your policy could be invalid.
