WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
It is important that the security devices installed at your home are as safe as possible in order to help prevent thefts from occurring.
You might be entitled to security discounts if you have certain types of locks fitted.
DOORS
MAIN ENTRANCE
A 5 lever mortice deadlock conforming to British Standard BS3621 or a key operated multi-point lock system or a rim automatic deadlatch with a key locking handle.
PATIO DOORS
A top and bottom key operated lock or a central rail key operated lock or a key operated multi-point lock system.
OTHER EXITS
A 5 lever mortice deadlock conforming to British Standard BS3621 or a key operated multi-point lock system or a rim automatic deadlatch with a key locking handle or key operated security bolts at top and bottom or if you have no other exits.
Examples of typical door security devices are shown below. Not all of these are regarded as acceptable.
WINDOW LOCKS
Key operated window locks should be on all ground floor and accessible windows.
